How are food justice efforts empowering communities? Show us! We want to see photos of projects, collaborations and effects of food justice efforts on communities across the country.
The Topic
Submissions should convey the conference theme: “Food, Culture & Justice” and be reflections of the following questions:
How is your community changing the food system?
Are people becoming empowered? How?
What does food have to do with it?
These are questions we hope to explore during our time together in New Orleans with your photos serving as a starting block for community discussion.
The Prize
First Place: $250 cash prize and a free registration to the conference
Second Place: $100 cash prize and a free registration to the conference
The winning entries along with other selected photographs will displayed in the Sheraton Hotel around the conference space.
The Process
Entries will be accepted through August 20, 2010. Email submissions as JPEG files (between 180 -300 dpi) to submissions@foodsecurity.org.
Please include with your photo:
Your name (the photographer) and contact information
Brief description, 30 words or less
Location of where the photo was taken
Please indicate in your email you accept the rules of the contest (see below)
Participants may submit up to 5 photos. Winners will be selected by a panel of judges. Judging will be based on theme conveyance and quality of photograph. Winning entries will be notified by September 1, 2010. Selected entries will be printed and displayed, the remaining entries will be posted in the online gallery.
The Rules
You must be the author and copyright holder of the photograph. Sending us your photo serves as an agreement that your entry does not infringe upon any other person’s or entity’s rights, and that you accept these rules.
By submitting to the contest you are giving the Community Food Security Coalition permission to use your photo in the future (with artist acknowledgment) without compensation to the artist. The Community Food Security Coalition shall have the right to edit, adapt and publish any or all of the descriptions and/or photos submitted, and may use them in any media in association with the contest without compensation to the contestant.
In the event that ownership of any photograph submitted is challenged in any manner by any person the Community Food Security Coalition may disqualify that photograph and will discontinue use of the photograph.
